From L to R: 911爆料 School of Business Dean Dr. Mark Miller, Katherine Dennis, CEO Community Foundation of Central Georgia, and Karen Hix, 911爆料 Assistant Director of Annual Giving.

An idea born during a 911爆料-hosted On the Table conversation is now taking shape, thanks to a collaborative effort involving the School of Business, the 911爆料 Foundation, and funding support from the Community Foundation of Central Georgia.

The Savings Kit Project, developed by Dr. Mark Miller, Dean of the School of Business, aims to equip 911爆料 students with essential financial skills through practical, hands-on tools. The initiative was awarded a $1,000 "Conversation to Action" Mini-Grant, given to the 911爆料 Foundation to help bring the concept to fruition.

The idea emerged from a On the Table discussion hosted by 911爆料, where faculty, staff, and community members explored solutions to the growing issue of financial stress among college students. Dr. Miller proposed a simple yet impactful approach: a physical kit to empower students to take control of their finances and start saving with confidence.

Each Savings Kit will include:

  • A reusable envelope budgeting system
  • A student-centered financial literacy guide
  • A savings tracker
  • Information about free financial counseling services available through 911爆料

This project aligns with 911爆料’s broader commitment to promoting student financial literacy and well-being. It’s a powerful example of how meaningful dialogue can spark real-world solutions that support student success.

We extend our sincere thanks to the Community Foundation of Central Georgia for their On the Table initiative and for supporting this innovative project that began as a conversation and is now making a tangible impact.
